Stir Up the Gifts – 2 Tim 1:6

05 May Everyday Stuff | Comments Off

“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you…”       2 Tim 1:6.

Your gift is unique in you.   It is not something we learn or receive by way of corporate skillbuilding seminars or self-help books.   Your gifting is that which God has instilled an implanted within you — to be used for the glory of God and for the doing of His good work.   This scripture is generally accepted on the surface mentally, but oftentimes not activated spirtually in that many expect others to stir them up, rather than we ourselves stirring up our own giftings.

If this were not possible, it would not be written in scripture.   If I may encourage you — the financial giver, the artist, the writer, the actor, the pastor — stir up your gifts for Japan if God is leading you to do so!   Don’t think too long or too hard about it or you may very well talk yourself out of it.   Your enemy, the devil, comes for one of three reasons only:   to steal, kill, or destroy.   And that includes your desire to stir up and use your gifts!

I find that stirring up myself involves taking time in prayer, reading the Word and knowing the gifts and abilities that I have been given.   It also means trusting God to work through my own mental roadblocks that come in the form of statements such as “Am I ready for this?” or “I don’t think this is possible.”   With God all things ARE possible to those who do what — believe!

Stir up your gifts today!   1) Trust God.   2) Pray for direction.   3) Think BIG.
